INTEGRUM

The County Councils of Szeklerland and the Cultural Center of Covasna County are organizing together the Graphics Review, the 3rd Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland, with the theme INTEGRUM, between September 5 and December 20, 2014.
The main patron of the biennial is Hunor Kelemen, former Minister of Culture, Romania.

The organizers of the biennial have set up two categories:
I. Traditional Graphics
II. Experimental Graphics

Terms and Conditions of Participation at the Biennial:

I. Traditional Graphics

1. Participants:
Any professional artist or art university student may participate from any country if his/her application is in conformity with the Terms and Conditions mentioned in the Call for Application. All applicants are requested to attach their Curriculum Vitae to the application form.

2. Information related to the submitted graphic works:
All traditional graphic works created with multiplying procedure are accepted in this category, comprised in the definition of traditional graphics in high-, low- and plain press (wood- and linocut, aquaforte, aquatint, mezzotint, lithography, silk screen, etc. – Drawings, pastel drawings, paintings are not accepted). Applicants shall specify the details concerning the artworks on the back of each submitted item in conformity with the attached table. These details shall be annexed to the Application Form as well.

3. Each artist may participate with maximum 3 artworks.

4. The smallest size of the artworks in the category of Traditional Graphics is 30×30 cm, and the largest accepted size is 100×100 cm.

5. Location and deadline of sending the artworks:

5/a: Pre-selection:
For the pre-selecting phase of the Graphics Review, the 3rd Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland, all participants are kindly requested to send the perfect reproductions of their artworks in digital format, according to the following parameters:
digital photos with *.tiff or *.jpg extensions and resolution of 300 dpi (the longest side of the image should be minimum 2500 pixels) to one of the following e-mail addresses: grafikaiszemle@grafikaiszemle.ro orgrafikaiszemle@yahoo.com.

Application forms and data of the artworks must be enclosed to the digital reproductions. Deadline for sending the digital reproductions is 20 November 2014, 12 p.m.
Important to know: for the pre-selecting phase don’t send the original works by post! (nevertheless, if this is the case, we regret to inform the authors that we are unable to send back their original works)
All participants will be informed about the decision after the pre-selection via e-mail.

5/b: Selection and evaluation by the Jury:
On the basis of the decision made at the pre-selecting phase, we kindly require the participants who remained in the competition to send us their original artworks by post.
Deadline for sending the original works is 12 December 2014 (date of arrival) by post, or handling them personally at the following location:
Centrul Cultural al Județului Covasna, RO-52008, Sfântu Gheorghe, str. Libertății, nr. 2, jud. Covasna, România. Please mention the following on the postal package: Graphics Biennial, 2014.

Artworks sent after the deadline will be excluded.

6. The theme and concept of the Biennial is INTEGRUM, completeness is creative power. The theme of the works can also be chosen freely, the only condition is that the woks have been created within the last 2 years.

7. All works must be numbered and signed according to international graphic standards. .

II. Experimental Graphics

1. Participants:
Any professional artist or art university student may participate from any country if his/her application is in conformity with the Terms and Conditions mentioned in the Call for Application. All applicants are requested to attach their Curriculum Vitae to the application form.

2. Information related to the submitted graphic works:
In this category all works are accepted which have been created with the help of non-traditional multiplying graphic methods that correspond to the following: individual printing, C-print, offset, electro-graphics, etc. – Drawings, paintings are not accepted. Here the jury will award works that have more graphical motivations. Applicants shall specify the details concerning the works of art on the back of each submitted item in conformity with the attached table. These details shall be annexed to the Application Form as well.

3. Each artist may participate with maximum 3 artworks.

4. The largest accepted size of the artworks in the category of Experimental Graphics is 100×100 cm.

5. Location and deadline of sending the artworks:

7. All artworks must be signed.

Jury and awarding:
The members of the jury are internationally acknowledged art historians and graphic artists. Awarding of the Graphics Review, the 3rd Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland is conceived in two phases:

1. Pre-selection:
For the pre-selecting phase of the Graphics Review, the 3rd Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland organized in Sfântu Gheorghe, all participants are kindly asked to send the perfect reproductions of their works in digital format, according to the following parameters:
digital photos with *.tiff or *.jpg extensions and resolution of 300 dpi (the longest side of the image should be minimum 2500 pixels) to one of the following e-mail addresses: grafikaiszemle@grafikaiszemle.ro orgrafikaiszemle@yahoo.com. Application forms and data of the artworks must be enclosed to the digital reproductions.

2. Awarding:
Prizes are awarded by the Jury to the works of art selected from among the works that have passed the preliminary selection phase. The works of graphic art selected by the jury shall be exhibited in the course of the Biennial – in accordance with the available exhibition surface. During the biennial, the artworks will be exhibited in the Gallery of Transylvanian Center of Fine Arts.

• The official opening of the Biennial is on 21 January 2015, 5 p.m. The participating artist will be informed in time about the decision made by the jury and the about the details of the opening ceremony.
• The awarded works will become the property of the Gallery of Transylvanian Center of Fine Arts.
• The exhibited artworks will be returned to their authors by post within one year.
• Photos of the artworks will appear in the Biennial’s catalogue.
• Organizers are entitled to plan the exhibition of the Biennial.
• The application forms may be multiplied on personal decision.

Participation fee:
The participation is free of charge.

General information:
No associations or professional organizations are eligible to apply; only those individual authors may send in their works who comply with the above mentioned criteria.
Original graphics woks are to be submitted without their frames or mat boards by post, in portfolios or carton reels, or delivered personally to the given address. Possible damages that might occur during transport cannot be compensated for.

Prizes:
1. Main prize of the Biennial: 2000 Euro
2. Nagy Imre Prize: 1000 Euro
3. Plugor Sándor Prize: 1000 Euro
4. Nagy Pál Prize: 1000 Euro

The Awarding Ceremony will be held at Tamási Áron Theatre in Sfântu Gheorghe on 21 January 2015, 5 p.m.The exhibition will be held at the Gallery of Transylvanian Center of Fine Arts, Sfântu Gheorghe.
